William Carey (1761-1834) was an English Protestant missionary and Baptist minister, known as the ‘father of modern missions'. Carey was one of the founders of the Baptist Missionary Society. After four years in a North London pastorate, John Appleby served with the Grace Baptist Mission for 38 years, in South India and in the UK.
